President Buhari Welcomes $5bn Investment From India

NYSC Introduces Biometric Clearance to Check Fraud

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced Biometric Clearance System for corps members in all local government areas of Nigeria to check impersonation and other forms of fraud in the scheme.The Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure, said this on Tuesday in Katsina at the opening of a workshop on Biometric Clearance for corps members serving in the North-West zone, using ICT. Kwara Govt. Launches scheme to aid infrastructural development

The Kwara State government has launched a scheme called Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K) which the state government hopes would aid infrastructural development and cushion the effect of the economic recession. Sale of national assets: NLC mobilises for nationwide protest

Organised labour, yesterday, said it was mobilising to confront the Federal Government over its decision to sell some national assets which had before now sustained the nation’s economy. Organised Labour’s declaration came on a day the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against planned sale of the assets. Addressing journalists in Abuja, president of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, described the proposed decision of the government to dispose of the national assets as reckless auctioning of the nation’s commonwealth to a coterie of capitalists and government’s close associates.

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, deferred hearing on Abia State Governorship dispute following an application by candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the state, Dr. Alex Otti, who applied to be joined as an interested party in the matter. Troops of Nigerian Army prosecuting the war on terror Tuesday repelled Boko Haram terrorists attack in two Borno villages resulting in a gun fight that left most of the terrorists escaping with gunshot wound. Giving details of the confrontation, Army Spokesman, Col Sani Usman said, “On Monday, at about 5.00pm suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists, scavenging for food, attacked Kwang village and Vigilantes from Dagu (which is about 4 kilometres from Kwang), responded and repelled the terrorists attack.

Workers observe two-days public holidays

Public offices in Edo were shut on Tuesday as workers observed the two-day public holiday declared by the state government ahead of Wednesday’s governorship election in the state.
The government on Saturday declared Tuesday and Wednesday as holidays to enable workers in the state to travel to areas where they registered as voters during election. The Federal Secretariat on Ikpoba Hill and the State Secretariat on Sapele Road and other public offices, including schools and the courts, in Benin were locked.

Google on Tuesday unveiled Google Photos, a free photos management system that could be used to create the ultimate album and memorable wedding. Google’s Anglophone West Africa spokesman, Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, said Google Photos also offered unlimited storage for high resolution images and videos.
