Halting new tariff puts 50,000 jobs on line – DISCOs

The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has warned that the suspension of the newly-implemented electricity tariff would come with a dire consequence as it may result in loss of
employment for about 50, 000 Nigerians. The Senate had, on Tuesday, asked the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Federal Ministry of Power and Electricity Distribution Companies, DISCOs, to suspend, forthwith, the implementation of the 45 per cent increase in electricity tariffs and revert to the status quo.
