Election petitions: Supreme Court criticises INEC for partisan role

The Supreme Court on Friday condemned what it described as recent partisan roles played by the Independent National Electoral Commission in election petition cases. A seven-man bench of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, made this observation while giving reasons for its earlier judgment affirming the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

The Independent National Election Commission, INEC, has declared former Senate President, David Mark, as the winner of the February 20 Benue South Senatorial District Re-run election.
