A Non-Governmental Organisation has called on the Federal Government to empower widows across the country. This is to enable them to train their children effectively without difficulty.
A Guest on Radio Link, a Radio Nigeria Audience Participatory Programme and Founder, Rock of Ages Foundation, Mr Ignatius Newman said empowering widows through agriculture would help them to be self-reliant and productive.
Mr Newman also appealed to the government to give soft loans to widows. On her part, Mrs Blessing Orji, a Counsellor, who was also a guest, said house wives should engage in petty trade to avoid over dependence on their husbands. Mrs Orji also encouraged women to seek help from relevant agencies when they feel their rights are being trampled upon.
