Nigerian legend Stephen Keshi dies


One of Nigeria’s most iconic coaches, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, passed away at the age of 54 . According to reports, Keshi passed away from a heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning.


The Big Boss”, as he was affectionately known, had been strongly tipped to become the new head coach at Orlando Pirates. Keshi played 64 times for Nigeria between 1981 and 1995, captaining the side to victory in the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and leading the team later that year at the 1994 World Cup in the USA. He got into coaching after retiring as a player, and qualified Togo for the 2006 World Cup. He then went on to coach Nigeria to victory at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Stephen Keshi is survived by 4 children.
