INEC Postpones Edo Election

The independent national electoral commission, Inec has reschedule the Edo state 2016 Governorship election to Wednesday the 28th of September 2016. This is contained in a statement signed by the national electoral commissioner in Charge of voters education and publicity prince Solomon Soyebi and made available to Newsmen in Benin city.
According to the statement the decision to rescheduled the election was the receipt of a formal complaint by the police and dss today drawing its attention to the need to postponed the elections in view of threats of terrorists activities in Edo and other states of the federation during the election and over the sallah period. The statement further read that the deployment of security personnel nationwide to secure lives and property would overstretched their capacity to provide adequate security for the elections. The statement enjoins all eligible voters in Edo state, political parties, candidates and other stakeholders to be peaceful and law abiding.
